Christ Journey is a community of people living the with-God life throughout Burleson and the surrounding cities giving themselves to:

> ascribe all worth and honor to God
> live in relationship with God & others
> grow in looking like Jesus
> bring justice and peace to our world
> participate in the loving story of God
> invite others to join this journey

If you already know someone connected with the Christ Journey community, the next time you're together take time to ask questions about the people and shared life of CJ.

If you are new to the area or investigating CJ for the first time, click the mailbox in the top righthand corner of this page & express your interest in getting together with some CJ folks for coffee or a meal to spend time discovering what following Christ in the midst of this community might look like.

Together, we share the journey of joining God's work in our area and ourselves; and here, you'll find the online diary of the quest. We invite you to join the journey.

The New American Dream

I heard a great question in our house church gathering Tuesday night. “Why do we make all this so hard? If the point is loving God and loving each other...it doesn’t seem like it should be so complicated.”

The urge and desire to keep up with our neighbors is so strong here in the 'burbs. It seems that we are judged by every little thing - Did our child make the team? Does our minivan have the right features? Does our house make us look like we're in a much higher tax bracket?

One writer admits that his wife doesn't struggle with desiring the guy next door so much as coveting his wife's figure.

I look around and I basically hear two responses, either we embrace this culture of competition because God wants to bless us with all this stuff anyway, or we reject everything and everyone and create our own little Christian ghetto. Are these our only choices? Is there a viable option other than selling everything and moving to Bangladesh? How can we live faithfully here...now...for real.

Let’s talk more about this on Sunday...
